        With the Uyghurs, what I discovered was a people whose own culture, heritage and history is to be celebrated, just like any other group around the globe.
        I found the musical tradition of the Twelve Muqam most interesting. I have various links describing its role in Uyghur culture. I found it particularly noteworthy that:
